The New Natty

I had this for the first time last night. They sell them at certain Bodegas at $2.99 for a six pack. It tastes way better than natty, maybe even the pibber (PBR). I am now a fan....for now, hopefully it wont be like my Black Label stint.

Lovely Eggs and Monster House

Last night General PG, Polska One, and the newest and 2nd female member of the Too Phly Gang, Ellaface a.k.a Wifey, went to the the Monster House to check out what I thought would be an acoustic show. PG and I skated the alleys of campus and drank 40's on our way to the destination. When we arrived monster house was popping off... I mean there were alot of people there. I immediately went straight to the basement where I found a cute blonde with a British accent holding a guitar. When her set started Peege and I were all smiles. The Lovely Eggs are a British 2 piece indie rock band from Lancaster, UK. They have a Wiki page so im not gonna rant too much about them. But they are fucking dope playing electric and acoustic tracks, as well as using a ukuele for one track that M.Davis would have dug. After they set I tried to hit on Holly, the vocalist/guitarist, only to discover that she was married to her drummer, David Blackwell. They are an awesome couple and really nice people, they offered me cds and a shirt which I regretfully forgot to grab. I was so satisfied with that band I didnt even give the other bands a chance. So we proceeded to party, drink wine in a suit jacket, and do philly hand style tags all over north campus, it was a funtime.

Sho Kuroda A.K.A. ShoNuff TPG

How can I move the crowd? Well Shoe Kuroda couldn't tell me on one drunken night. But the newest/oldest member of the Them Punks Global set has been putting in work since most of have known him. Having met Sho in middle school I knew the kid was talented in some way but back then I didn't understand how talented he really was. Now as a man attending school in Kyoto, Japan Sho is still putting in work as an original artist and I am glad to include him in our collective of Truly Prolific Geniuses.

Cune Pluto's Song of the Week

It doesn't get any more heavy than this when talking about religious struggle in the Middle East. A true headbanger! And without this song getting to work on the trains would be such a bore for me.

Pink Floyd- Us and Them

Back in my stoner days this was my cut, still is a dope track.

The Crazy Dreams Band

Brody, Krusty Karl and I ventured down to the place that you can always go...downtown. We attended a show at Skylab that featured the band pictured above. Us being alcoholically late because I needed a 40oz of King Cobra got us there just as Crazy Dreams Band were setting up. Considering I had no idea what there sound would be like I was hoping for a punk band with a female lead. But that didn't happen, and nor was I disappointed. What we got instead was a psyche rock group with a soulful female singer who I dug fosho. On there myspace page the band describes there sound as "in a blender on acid" and I would agree. I immediately thought of all my friends who did/do drugs and likes to listen to music that "intensifies" they experience. The first thing I thought after they adjusted there sound and vocals were those Pink Floyd songs that would have the female vocalist on them. I mean for a second as corny as it sounds and considering I had been working for 9 hours before the show I dazed off and was "lost in the music" while thinking of my last "tripped out" experience. They even had an 8 minute "ballad" that left the entire crowd either bopping they heads, tapping they feet, or a few cats in the back pulling off those "grateful dead" moves. Usually I dont dig this type of music but they are an exception, and after chatting with lead singer Lexi and Nate who I believe was the drummer I was inspired. What inspired me was how they were able to catch my attention with a sound I wasnt expecting, thats what always gets me about bands at Skylab. I told them about Shredded Lettuce and they dug, and we joked about my "double life" as a graffer/corporate american. They told me about how they were from Baltimore, and were doing a southern/midwestern tour and were heading back east. Lexi also expressed her love for Columbus, OH and invited us to visit them anytime we are in B-More.

After the set we had a debate about hula hoops becoming an Olympic sport and I proceeded to break a Guinness World Record by being the first Black Man to down a 40oz and hula hoop at the same time, moms would be proud to know that I did not break this record. We thanked our new friends for blowing our minds and Tipsetted from Skylab. Brody and I tried to convince Krusty to bomb the streets of downtown with us without success. But we managed to slay a few spots while a security guard harassed us and I Dee-Boed Brody into "not being a bitch and come on". We were also harassed by a junkie on the eastside who wouldnt stop asking me "ay bruh who holding something, is you holding something" as I attempted to do "philly hand styles". All in all it was a funtime for the Tag Paint Gang.

Them Phools Grew-up

A couple throwbacks from the days as a kick pushing, bus riding, campus jocking Eastsider.

The Fat Bear Has Sang(sniffle)

The free shows at East River Park, hosted by Jelly NYC, are finally over and man did they go out with a bang. Sunday, on the Williamsburg waterfront Vega, Beach House, and Grizzly Bear stopped by to show some love for the last Jelly NYC Pool Party. The show has been on everrybodies calandar since the schedule was realeased, and all those who could get in were not dissapointed. I had to work on this day from 8-4, so I missed Vega's performance. And if I didn't happen to know someone who was waiting in line I most likely would have not seen the show completely. The line stretched from the entrance on N.8th all the way to N. 12th... A line of biblical proportions is an understatement. I mean the show was so damn big Jay-Z, Beyonce, and her sister Solange were at the show bobbin their heads to the sounds of native Brooklynites Grizzly Bear.

When I finally got in Beach House had just started their set, and I had to look for my peoples. The music pf Beach House was a perfect dream pop soundtrack to walking arround ERP. Scoping all the people fully enjoying the water, the sun on their backs, the skyline of the lower east side, and the last Jelly NYC show for the year. When Grizzly Bear finally took the stage everyone in site stood to their feet, gathered in a cozy enough space to see the band, watched the sun set on Summer and one of the best bands of the decade take everyone to space.
